Quartier Bastille which is very animated and full of restaurants,
shops, nightclubs and the Opera Bastille. 10 minutes by foot and you're
in Place de Vosges (Marais - full of galleries, shops, museums etc.),
and 15 minutes from Quartier Oberkampf, very trendy grunge area, tons
of bars and night spots, restaurants etc. Nearby are several
métro stations: Bréguet-Sabin (line 5), Voltaire, the
closest is St. Ambroise (both line 9) very convenient for getting
around Paris quickly. Take a look at www.mappy.com
for a better idea. Everything you need from towels and sheets to pots
and pans are included, brand new appliances: vitro-ceramic cooker,
microwave/grill, washing machine, big fridge/freezer, toaster, coffee
machine, cable TV/VCR - 4 movie channels with changeable language, tons
of videos, rechargeable cell phone, free 10 mega cable internet access,
etc. There is a full-size bath tub, with a shower and glass door. The
double bed (2,00 X 1,40) which is very comfortable is also a corner
sofa that easily and quickly converts. The main room is quite spacious
and the apt. is 28 square meters, total. The ceilings all have original
wooden beams. In the separate dining area there is a huge closet. Two
big double paned windows have a nice view of Parisian rooftops, letting
in lots of light, sunshine in the mornings and no vis-à-vis.
Off-season rates: January 6 - April 30; August 16 - November 14:
(3 night minimum) 3 - 4 nights 75 euros per night; 5 - 6 nights 70

If you'd like to book the apartment, I'll send along a reservation form
(word) in which you fill out and return along with a personal check for
200 US dollars or 150 euros (for reservation guarantee) by regular
post, that will be held but NOT deposited, (too many charges in the
conversion to euros). I'll send you a reservation confirmation by
e-mail. I or my partner will be at the apt. to greet you upon your
arrival. I'll give you 2 sets of keys, return your check in exchange
for the sum total in euros for the period of your stay (cash,
travellers checks, or money order) and I'll ask for a 500 US dollars or
400 euros personal check (security deposit) that will be held and NOT
deposited then returned to you at the end of your stay.

We just wanted to thank you both so much for the charming apartment. It
really made our stay in Paris 100% better because of the ability to
make our own meals and to experience a Parisian working class
neighborhood. We enjoyed living in your beautifully restored flat with
surprisingly large windows and always interesting views. We did pickup
a taxi within 5 minutes right in front of St. Ambroise at the Taxi
stand, which was a relief because of all the stairs between the metro
and the Gare, maybe
we're just getting old but with luggage, it's quite an effort!
Please feel free, when in Los Angeles, to give us a call, we'll rent
you a room or at least invite you to dinner....thank you again for a
