East Hampton Point, 296 Three Mile Harbor Road, East Hampton, (631) 329-2800. The snappy, shipshape white and blue dining rooms, decks, bar and marina of what is now called East Hampton Point command an unobstructed view of Three Mile Harbor (facing west into the sunset). The team of Della Femina, Ben Krupinski and Larry Dunst, who wet their feet late last summer with Della Femina on North Main Street in East Hampton, also includes Drew Nienporent, who manages both Della Femina and East Hampton Point. The experienced Mr. Nienporent (also of Montrachet and TriBeCa Grill in Manhattan) handles the crush of visitors demanding tables every weekend at East Hampton Point. Once seated, diners can select the chef Gerry Hayden's commendable sweet corn and Manila clam chowder, chunky crab and cod cakes or roasted vegetable terrine to start, then a fist-sized hunk of swordfish with couscous or silky roasted cod with eggplant. Meltingly tender lamb shank, hardly summery fare, was delicious all the same. Desserts, especially the berry tart, are excellent. Main dishes are $17 to $23. At the bar (which is dwarfed by a handsome 5.5 Meter sloop that sits nearby) and on the deck, there is a light seafood-orientated menu drawn largely from the list of appetizers, at prices mostly in the $5 to $12 range.

BABETTE'S
Newtown Lane
(631) 329-5377
Chef: Daniel Van Der Beek

Contemporary American; Health. Family style restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, located directly across Newtown Lane from the A&P in East Hampton Village. Chef Daniel serves up "healthy cuisine," meaning whole grain breads and pancakes, tempeh, tofu, and no red meat, but seafood, turkey-burgers and chicken mean
its not vegetarian. Ratings given are for dinner only; brunch gets considerably higher grades (and larger crowds). AE, MC, V. Entree price range: $7.50 to $18.95. Full liquor license; sit-down bar.

BLUE PARROT BAR & GRILL
33A Main Street
(631) 324-3609

Mexican. Located just off of East Hampton's village parking lot (but not right on it), this is a family-style restaurant disguised as a Mexican cantina. Popular as a watering hole or for light dining before or after a movie across the street, its only problem is the occasional wait for a table. But once the wait is over, the waitstaff tries its best to please.

BOSTWICK'S SEAFOOD GRILL & OYSTER BAR
29 Gann Road
(631) 324-1111
Chris Eggert and Kevin Boles, Proprietors
Chef: Chris Eggert

Seafood; Contemporary American. The owners, who also run Santa Fe Junction, have recently combined with the East Coast Oyster Bar, this family counterpart to the upscale East Hampton Point has moved to East Coast's old location. No impeccable service here, but the raised semi-outdoor dining deck features a view of the harbor (and sunset), and the food is well-prepared, though of a simpler nature. The raw bar is very nice, the personal pizzas are local favorites, and the prices are attractive. A good choice for everyday dining. The spot's popularity causes the service to be slow, so don't come if you're in a hurry. Leave room for dessert. Entree price range: $14.50 to $18.95. Closed off season.
